Our first half term back with the children has been amazing – we can’t believe how much they have all grown and matured! They have worked together as a team to cope with all the new changes in school and have done a brilliant job of keeping the staff on track too! Well done everyone and that includes all your parents.
Here’s a list of sites that the children use regularly to support their learning:
Autumn 1 Learning
In Literacy, we have enjoyed reading and working on the story of ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’. We have worked hard to use adjectives in our writing and have continued to work on writing full sentences with correct punctuation. Flynn came up with some lovely ideas for his own version of the story – well done!
In Maths, we’ve been working really hard on improving our place value knowledge. We have also been practising our times tables and counting in different steps.
This term we have been learning about Ancient Egypt and have learnt lots of facts about key pharaohs, some of the Egyptian gods and the best bit of all—how to make a mummy!
We enjoyed learning about all the gory bits of making a mummy like pulling the brain out through the nose with a hook! We even had a go at mummification—with tomatoes!
We also enjoyed making Egyptian bread and used lots of cooking skills, including measuring, pouring, stirring and kneading! The best bit was eating it!
Cole, Leon – showing a more mature attitude to school and learning – I am so proud of you both!
Flynn – making a positive start at South Bank and having a great sense of humour – you make me smile every day.
Ellie-Mae, Kuba, Theo, Dany – for always giving 100% towards your learning and showing excellent learning behaviour – keep it up!
Joseph, Matthew, Lukas – for your excellent maths skills
Jack, Attilla, Lucas, Fabian, Charlie – for always trying your best, even when things are hard.
Natalia – for your enthusiasm and the great big smile you give me every morning!
Jack – for being a role model for the younger children in our class. Well done.
