Welcome to Year 5/6

Curriculum


In Autumn term, Year 5/6 will studying 'The Victorians'.  As part of this topic we will be learning about the history of Victorian Britain and inspirational people of that era including Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens and William Morris.  A particular art focus will look at the themes of William Morris' work in order to re-create this for themselves.

            

In Spring term, Year 5/6 will be studying 'Extreme Weather'. As part of this topic, we will be learning about the cause and effects of different weather conditions with a particular focus on the geographical location.

 

       


In Summer term, Year 5/6 will be studying 'Ancient Greece'. As part of this topic, we will be learning about how the Ancient Greeks lived, what they ate and their beliefs.

 

 

 

Home Learning

Please read with your child at home each night.  They must bring their signed reading record to school each day.

Thursday - P.E kit

Indoor:

Black or navy shorts, a white t-shirt and indoor shoes

Outdoor:

Plain black or navy tracksuit bottoms, a white t-shirt, a warm plain jumper and a change of outdoor shoes.

Friday - Homework due

The working day starts at 8.50am; the doors will close promptly at 9.00am and the register will close.

In order for your child to gain the best from their education, a good nights sleep is encouraged.

SATS begin the week of 14.05.18.  It is vital that your child is in school this week.

Let's Celebrate

Year 6 had a fantastic time at Peat Rigg.  They had to take part in a number activities including: orienteering, tree climbing, a low ropes obstacle course, a night walk and the nightline.  All the children conquered person fears and developed their ability to work as a team.
