Welcome to Year 1/2

Curriculum

The topic for the Autumn Term was OUR PLANET.

We learnt about earth in space, different climates, extreme weather and physical phenomena such as volcanoes, earthquakes and tornadoes.

We visited Magna Science Adventure Centre in Sheffield.  We experienced the four elements: air, earth, fire and water.

What a wonderful time we had!

The topic for the Spring Term was CHINA.

We followed in the footsteps of Barnaby Bear and visited famous sights and cultural events and learned about agriculture. We visited a local Chinese restaurant to sample authentic Chinese food.  We even had a go at using chopsticks!

We had lots of fun exploring the story of 'The Lonely Beast' by Chris Judge.  We used drama to explore the character's thoughts and feelings.

The topic for the Summer Term is KNIGHTS and CASTLES.

Would you like living in medieval times, when you had to defend your land with swords and shields? What would it have been like for a knight in armour? Could you fight dragons? Journey with us to times long past. Who knows, we might end up in a real castle!
