Welcome to Support Base 3

Autumn term

In the autumn term we have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians.  We learnt about their daily life, mummification and the pyramids.  We visited the Oriental Museum at Durham University to explore some Egyptian artefacts and enjoyed the role play about embalming.  We even made our own Shabti figures!

Spring term

During the Spring term, we learnt all about water.  We learnt about the different uses of water and the processes involved in the water cycle.  We visited Teesmouth Visitor Centre to do a river study about the River Tees.  We enjoyed learning about the different parts of the river and braved a ride on the Transporter Bridge.  We even made a model of the river from source to mouth on the beach to show what we had learnt!

Summer term

During the summer term we have been learning about the Americas.  We have developed our skills in using an atlas to find different countries within America and worked hard to compare different features of the landscape compared to England.  We enjoyed our work on the Maya, especially making our own wraps and fajitas!
