Welcome to Support Base 2

Autumn Term

In the Autumn Term, we have been learning 'All About Me.'  We drew mini portraits off ourselves.

We visited some interesting places in our local area including the police station, library and doctors surgery.

A local police person visited our class and talked to us about her job. It was very interesting and she allowed us to try on her hat and jacket.

Spring Term

During the Spring Term, we looked at 'Night and Day.'  In our Science we looked at animal habitats and who lives in them and  researched what a nocturnal animal is and which animals are nocturnal.

We read the book 'The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark.'  We re-told parts of the story and the children worked on the skills of working together to act out different scenes of the story. We also made up actions to the story.

We visited Kirkleatham Owl Centre as part of our topic.

All the children dissected an owl pellet, after our visit to the owl centre.

Summer Term

During Summer Term, we looked at 'Food and Growth'. We planted seeds and  learnt how to look after them. We watered them every day and watched them grow.

We made our own delicious garlic dip and took it home for our family to taste.

SB2 making their delicious garlic dips.

We read the books 'The Tiny Seed' and 'Mabel's Magical Garden'.

Our current topic is the Coastline and Water. We are planning a trip to Saltburn as part of our topic. We will complete some literacy work about our visit once we are back in the classroom.

We are also reading and completing our Literacy work about the book 'The snail and the whale'.
