Curriculum

The children in the Early Years learn through play. This way of learning underpins all aspects of children's development. Through play, children develop language skills, their emotions and creativity, social and intellectual skills.

We have a free flow system in place whereby the children are able to choose to play indoors or outdoors. Here are some examples of the children 'getting busy' in the areas.

Since starting school in September lots of learning has taken place. We have enjoyed exploring Autumn and the changes that take place during this season. The children enjoyed searching for Autumn treasures with their families in the local woodlands and parks, which they then shared with the rest of the class.

Interfaith week was a particularly exciting time for the children as they learnt about Islam. We were lucky enough to have hands on experiences and a guest speaker to talk with the children about the beliefs and practices of this religion. During a whole school assembly we were able to share our new learning with the rest of the school, whilst hearing about the faiths other year groups had chosen to focus on. Below are some photographs of our week...

Home Learning

Children are encouraged to take a book home each night to read with you. They have been provided with a reading record should you wish to add any comments to help support their reading. It would therefore be helpful if they had a book bag, which can be purchased from the school office.

Alongside our child-led learning we teach daily phonics and maths. Here are some useful links for you to use at home to support your child's learning:

PE is on a Friday. If your child wears earrings please ensure they are taken out on this day or they are covered.
