Support Base 1
Welcome to Support Base 1!
In our class we learn through play and sensory based activities to make our learning fun! We hope you enjoy looking at some of the things that we have been doing and remember to check back regularly to see what else we have been up to.
Each week we carry out a variety of activities including: phonics, story work and numbers. Our curriculum largely involves play activities linked to our topic. We try to include lots of role play, singing and sensory exploration.
In our class we focus on a different topic each half term. All of our topics are linked to a story.
These are our topic for academic year 2017 – 2018
Autumn 1 – All About Me/Three Little Pigs
Autumn 2 – Journeys/ Jolly Postman
Spring 1 – Imagination: Space / Button Moon
Spring 2 – Night and day / Owl Babies
Summer 1 – Growth and food / The Hungry Caterpillar
Summer 2 – Water, coast and sea / The Rainbow Fish
All our learning and play activities will be linked to our themes. If you have any exciting ideas for things we could do or places we could visit please let us know?
We follow a structured routine everyday. We have the opportunity to practice our communication skills during breakfast and snack time. We join Foundation Stage for outdoor play and lunch times. We are visited by other agencies, who help us to support your child.
In SB1, we all love to be active! We have soft play on Monday and PE on Friday. Please can we have PE kits for a Friday morning?
We will inform you which stories we are focusing on each half term for you to practise with your child. Reading books will be sent home in your child’s book bag and these will be changed as regularly as you read with your child. Reading is vitally important to your child’s development and you will find that they enjoy sharing books with you. Please remember to sign the reading record.
Your child is asked to bring their home-school book to school each day so that we can share information with you about their day and you can share information from home with us. Please complete books regularly so we can work together to support your child.
Wow Leo! What a fantastic piece of independent mark-making!
