History at South Bank Primary School The history curriculum aims to inspire the children at South Bank to develop a curiosity and fascination about the past of Britain and the wider world. Skills and content are taught through topics.

We aim to provide children with first-hand experiences by visiting museums and historical buildings to bring the curriculum to life. We also invite visitors to share their knowledge and expertise about various historical periods, people and events. Overview for Year 1 & 2 Overview for Year 3 and 4 Overview for Year 5 & 6 Investigate the achievements of the earliest civilizations: Develop chronological knowledge beyond 1066: Study significant turning points in British history: November 2018 To mark 100 years since the end of World War 1 and to celebrate their learning from over the last half-term, Year 5 showcased their fantastic World War 1 work in an art exhibition. We had a fantastic turn around with many parents attending and giving really positive feedback. We also had two very special guests the Mayor and Mayoress of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Councillor Dennis Teasdale and Mrs Honor Teasdale. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for encouraging and supporting us through our learning journey.    Here is a photo of our wonderful poppy display, commemorating 100 years since the end of the First World War.  Well done to all children, staff and parents who were involved.
